Get to know Taopatch® BODY STATION PULSE
Why is BODY STATION PULSE the new frontier of photobiomodulation?
There are eras that mark the progress of human ingenuity. From the Stone Age to the Industrial Revolution, each period represented an evolutionary leap in man's abilities and way of life. Today we have fully entered the era of artificial intelligence, an unprecedented phase of digitization that permeates every area, from work to health.
In this scenario, innovations are emerging that redefine the way we take care of the body, opening up new paths towards the medicine of the future. In the field of photobiomodulation, a new technology is redefining the use of light as a stimulus for the body's natural regenerative processes: Taopatch® BODY STATION PULSE. With its advanced approach, PULSE inaugurates a new phase: "The Age of Pulse", the era of pulsation, a true therapeutic revolution destined to change the way we understand well-being.
Technological innovation and spectrum of action
The result of years of research, BODY STATION PULSE introduces numerous innovations, integrating 10 different types of latest generation LEDs into a single system. Thanks to the nanotechnology integrated into each LED (patented by Dr. Fabio Fontana), it is able to generate about 729 wavelengths for a complete and highly customizable treatment.
The emission spectrum is particularly wide: it operates between 380 and 1600 nanometers (nm) and, in addition to red light, near, medium and far infrared, also includes blue light.
Blue light at 470 nm is useful for regulating circadian rhythms, supporting the immune system and skin treatments, with an antibacterial and sebum-regulating action.
Red light, especially in the wavelengths of 630 and 670 nm, stimulates fibroblasts, promotes the production of collagen and elastin, and can help reduce the visibility of wrinkles.
The different wavelengths of light in the near infrared (810, 830, 850, 870, 940 and 1060 nm) penetrate up to 5 cm deep and are indicated for deep therapy, contributing to the reduction of inflammation, vasodilation and support in the treatment of conditions such as chronic neuropathic pain, arthritis and fibromyalgia.
All 360 LEDs have been treated with Taopatch® PLATINUM nanotechnology to enhance their effectiveness. With a height of 1.5 meters (150 cm), PULSE allows you to treat the entire body even at close range, up to about 30 cm.
Does distance matter?
Of course, because in outpatient light therapy, the effectiveness depends on the intensity with which the light reaches the tissues, and this decreases as the distance increases. The smaller the lamp, the further away you need to get a "total body" coverage. A larger lamp, on the other hand, allows a treatment on the whole body even a few centimeters, ensuring a high intensity and a more uniform distribution of light.
What is pulsation in light therapy?
In addition to the breadth of the spectrum, unique in its kind (at the moment there is no lamp in the world with such a wide spectrum of application, also the result of a new patent application by Dr. Fabio Fontana), PULSE stands out for its control. This system allows you to adjust the intensity of the red, infrared and blue LEDs separately, not only by varying the distance from the body, but also by modulating each group of LEDs.
But what really makes the difference is the pulsed mode light, which is a sequence of light pulses that repeat themselves according to a precise rhythm. To understand its effectiveness, an analogy can be used: continuous light is like uniform noise; Pulsation, on the other hand, is like tuning into a specific rhythm, capable of "guiding" the body towards a targeted response — whether it is relaxation, concentration or support for repair processes.
The frequency can be precisely modulated from 0 to 100 Hz for each group of LEDs. Thanks to the pulsation, the treatment is highly customizable and allows you to associate targeted effects with the different frequencies.
We introduced pulsation with the aim of helping the autonomic nervous system work at the right pace.
The health of the body is a perfect divine symphony governed by the most important conductor that exists: The Autonomic Nervous System
Imagine being at a concert Imagine being at a concert in which some instruments start playing later than the others, out of time with respect to the rhythm indicated by the score and the conductor. This is what happens in the body when something is "unregulated" with respect to the general harmony of health.
Every organ, every cell and every biochemical process is a tool that must enter the scene with millimeter timing. When we are healthy, the score is executed perfectly. However, what happens when something goes out of order? We begin to hear "instruments" that play late, out of time with respect to the rhythms dictated by the conductor. This is what happens when the overall balance is compromised: the body loses its rhythmic coherence.
For many years, through the network of hundreds of Taopatch® clinics scattered throughout the country, we have been measuring the rhythms of the autonomic nervous system of patients. The data collected tell us a widespread reality: most people live in a state of dysregulation. In these conditions, the metabolism resembles an orchestra whose instruments no longer play at the same rhythm: digestion is out of phase with sleep, energy does not correspond to cognitive demand, and the ability to repair cells slows down.
The whole body must be able to constantly synchronize with the needs that health requires at that specific time of day.
Taopatch ® BODY STATION PULSE: your body metronome
Taopatch ® BODY STATION PULSE was created precisely to offer the "conductor" (the autonomic nervous system) a more precise "wand", capable of restoring order through the luminous frequency.
To understand how Taopatch ® BODY STATION PULSE manages to realign these instruments, we need to look at how the brain interprets external rhythms. Our brain does not work at a static frequency, but oscillates through different "waves" that determine our state of consciousness and the response of the whole body. The brain is a dynamic system where billions of neurons communicate through rhythmic electrical impulses.
Brain waves are measured in Hertz (Hz), which are cycles per second. Depending on the speed of the waves produced, the brain enters different states: Delta, Theta, Alpha and Gamma.
Brain waves:
GAMMA (20–25 Hz): waves typical of states of maximum cognitive activation. They are observed when the brain integrates a lot of information together: intense attention, learning, analysis, quick decisions and problem solving (for example during study, exams or complex tasks).
BETA (14–19 Hz): Associated with active wakefulness. They support logical reasoning, concentration, organization, and responsiveness. In excess, they can accompany hyperactivation and mental tension ("always on" mind).
ALPHA (7.83–14 Hz): Linked to alert relaxation: calm but present mind. They appear when one detaches oneself from external stimuli and enters a more internal and creative state (light meditation, breathing, drawing, writing). They also promote consolidation and access to long-term memory content.
THETA (4–7 Hz): Typical of states of deep relaxation and transition between wakefulness and sleep, often associated with increased parasympathetic activation. They are frequent in deep meditation, imagination and early stages of sleep; they are linked to processes of recovery, emotional processing and creativity.
DELTA (1–4 Hz): predominate in deeper sleep (N3/slow-wave sleep). They are linked to physiological repair and recovery processes. In wakefulness, marked presence may indicate significant fatigue or neurological/clinical conditions requiring evaluation.
Clinical applications: what the research says
Photobiomodulation in pulsation mode is the subject of growing interest because, depending on dose, duration and frequency, it can influence biological processes such as:
- Inflammation and Pain: In numerous clinical settings, photobiomodulation has been studied to support the modulation of pain and inflammatory processes. In some studies, specific infrared wavelengths have been associated with clinical improvements and, in selected samples, with significant reductions in chronic pain (Chow et al., 2009). The use of pulsation has shown a 52% reduction in pain and a 68% reduction in drug use (Zampi et al., 2016).
- Accelerated Recovery: The combination of frequencies and pulsation has been linked to improvements in tissue repair indicators and recovery times, especially when integrated with physiotherapy and standard treatment. A much-cited study (Keshri et al., 2016) compared continuous versus pulsed light and reported that 810 nm at 10 Hz was more effective than continuous light (and 100 Hz) in promoting repair and reducing pro-inflammatory markers in a healing model. Setting the BODY STATION PULSE to 10 Hz can help support these potential benefits.
- Oncological Support (management of side effects): In oncology, photobiomodulation is particularly studied in the prevention and management of chemo/radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis, with literature reviews and recommended protocols (e.g. Zadik et al., 2019).
From the autonomic nervous system to neurological applications
In the psychophysiological and neurological fields, pulsed stimulation is the subject of growing interest because it can influence the state of activation and promote rebalancing responses, depending on the parameters and the protocol used.
Anxiety and stress
In specific studies, pulsed stimulation protocols have shown improvements on psychometric measures of anxiety, suggesting a possible supportive role in the regulation of activation. Alpha wave modulation (8–12 Hz) has been explored for its possible effects on relaxation and some indicators of neurovegetative regulation, with results that may vary by protocol and person (Jirakittayakorn & Wongsawat, 2018).
Sleep
Low frequencies and combined protocols have been used in selected populations and in multi-week programs to promote relaxation and improve some sleep-related indicators (such as falling asleep latency or perceived quality).
Neuroplasticity and cognitive functions
40 Hz frequencies (gamma waves) are widely studied in the field of audiovisual pulsed stimulation: some studies have found that they can facilitate neuroplasticity and cortical reorganization. Therefore, setting up a therapy with BODY STATION PULSE at 40 Hz can help achieve these potential benefits.
In the neurological field, these frequencies have been studied in particular in Alzheimer's disease. A phase 2A clinical trial (Chan et al., 2022) reported good tolerability and adherence to the protocol, with positive signals on some neurophysiological parameters. Overall, the research is considered promising and still evolving, with results to be interpreted according to the study design and the indicators considered.
Usability and design: when technology becomes experience
PULSE, thanks to the light in pulsed mode and the customization of the parameters, allows the use of protocols aimed at the objectives described above.
This photobiomodulation system also stands out for its user experience: a touch display and control via Bluetooth app allow you to adjust intensity and pulse and easily monitor the remaining time. It also uses voice commands to start or stop treatment and adjust various parameters.
Thanks to its innovative format and design, PULSE offers a "total body" treatment with outpatient-level services, with the aim of making protocols that require precision, repeatability and customization more accessible.
BODY STATION PULSE is not just a new device. It is a technology that combines spectrum, control and pulsation to accompany the evolution of photobiomodulation towards a more modern idea of well-being: measurable, adaptable and integrable in daily life. It is in this direction that "The Age of Pulse" is outlined: a new way of thinking of light not as a simple exhibition, but as a guided stimulus at the service of balance and quality of life.
