Fabio Fontana at Voci al Vertice: nanomedicine and AI

One in five people suffer from chronic pain. Back pain, migraines, joint pain, postural disorders: millions of people live every day with symptoms that limit their quality of life, often entrusted to therapies that alleviate the symptoms without intervening on the causes.

It was from this awareness — and from a personal migraine refractory to drugs — that led Dr. Fabio Fontana, originally from the Asiago plateau, to develop Taopatch®: a wearable nanotechnological device that combines nanomedicine, biophysics and light therapy to support neuro-muscular rebalancing, improve posture and movement, without drugs or side effects.

In the interview, Fontana tells how the encounter with quantum dot research paved the way for an intuition that is now consolidated in over 3,800 clinics in Italy and in more than 40 countries around the world. It explains the mechanism behind the device — mitochondrial stimulation through specific light wavelengths to promote ATP production and biomodulation of the nervous system — and faces without reticence the years in which it was greeted with skepticism, the choice to grow without external investors, and unexpected discoveries in areas such as multiple sclerosis.

A conversation that also touches on the entrepreneurial and value level: what it means to build a mission-oriented company, not profit-oriented, and why Fontana believes that nanomedicine is destined to change our lives as much as artificial intelligence.
