Olimpiadi e pace al Premio Giorgio Lago 2026

The new edition of the Giorgio Lago Prize was inaugurated last Thursday 16 October at the Academic Theatre of Castelfranco Veneto (TV), in front of the students of the Giorgione High School and the Florence Nightingale Institute.
The meeting officially kicked off the path of the journalistic competition dedicated to students in the last classes of high school, this year focused on a theme of great relevance and universal value: the Olympics and peace.
We have been proudly supporting the Giorgio Lago Award for years, and this year's theme resonates deeply with our mission. With our Taopatch® nanotechnology, we follow numerous athletes at all levels, including some Olympic medalists, who use it to optimize performance and promote recovery.
During the meeting, Francesco Chiavacci Lago, vice president and treasurer of the Friends of Giorgio Lago Association, Giancarlo Padovan, deputy director of the NEM Group, the regional councilor for planning Francesco Calzavara and the councilor for culture of the Municipality of Castelfranco Veneto, Roberta Garbujo, spoke.
The speakers recalled the figure of Giorgio Lago, journalist and director of Il Gazzettino, underlining hispassion for sport, which led him to tell the Munich '72 Olympics in the first person. It was precisely from that experience that the reflection on the profound meaning of sport as an instrument of brotherhood, dialogue and identity between peoples was born.
"I think that Milano Cortina 2026 will be an opportunity for a new renaissance," said Giancarlo Padovan. "It would be nice if Russian athletes could also participate: it would be a sign of pacification."
The Giorgio Lago Prize will continue in the coming months with new meetings and lessons in schools, to accompany students in their path of in-depth study and writing. A journey that will culminate with the award ceremony scheduled for April 16, 2026 at the Santa Caterina Auditorium in Treviso.
