The Healthcare Focus Honors Tao Technologies for Innovation in Medical Nanotechnology
The international magazine The Healthcare Focus has awarded Tao Technologies the "Most Innovative Medical Nanotechnology Company 2026" award, dedicating an article to our history and the birth of Taopatch® devices. The portrait traces the stages of a project born in Castelfranco Veneto from a personal experience of our founder, Dr. Fabio Fontana, and grown thanks to the discussion with researchers, clinicians and professionals.
The story of Taopatch® begins with a question about pain
After an accident, Fabio Fontana found himself living with persistent pain. The search for an answer led him to delve into biophysics and photobiomodulation, until he formulated a question that would guide his work in the following years. Was it possible to design a wearable device that interacted with the body through light, without batteries or drugs?
From that question and from the work of a small team in Castelfranco Veneto, Taopatch® was born. Today the devices are distributed in different countries and are the subject of studies by universities and researchers.
Comparison with those who use devices every day
The article also recounts the skepticism we encountered along the way. The questions from clinicians and researchers prompted us to learn more about how the devices work and collect evidence. At the same time, the discussion with professionals and people who use Taopatch® every day helped us understand which aspects deserved further attention.
The future of wearables
We continue to invest in nanotechnologies, photobiomodulation and customization. Our research looks at a new generation of wearable and non-invasive devices, designed to integrate into everyday life and meet individual needs. One of the questions that guide this work is how to design technologies that are increasingly discreet, easy to wear and use over time.
We share this recognition with our team, with certified professionals and with all the people who have trusted Taopatch®. Thanks to those who have contributed to growing the project with their work, their questions and their experience.
